Join the team!

Bridal Dress Designer

We are looking for a new team member to join our hardworking production team. This would be a great opportunity to join a growing local business working within the fashion industry with opportunities to progress and learn multiple new skills to a high level.

The Role

The basis of the role is producing handmade bridal veils and headdresses.

You will be shown how to hand sew, trim, decorate and complete veils using different sewing and bonding techniques. You will be taught how to apply a variety of laces, pearls and crystals to a broad range of styles and designs.  You will begin with more straight forward patterns and build up a wide skill base and knowledge of designs with practice.  Once this has been completed there would be an opportunity to learn how to use our sewing, embroidery and laser cutting machines.

We will also show you the principles of working with and twisting wire to combine various pieces together to form bridal tiaras and other bridal & occasion-wear jewellery pieces.  This will include learning how to make flowers from ribbons and fabrics which may be part of the embellishments. For the right candidate, there will be opportunities to learn additional skills and shadow other staff in additional roles to gain valuable skills outside their remit and help cover the tasks of their own team and others.

Working Hours

We work a 37.5 hour working week, with flexible options to help suit your work/life balance, options include:

Monday to Thursday 7.45am until 4.30pm and Friday 7.45am until 12.25pm

Monday to Friday 9am until 5pm

The Ideal Candidate

As you will be working as part of a team, you must be flexible and reliable and willing to learn.  Due to the nature of the work, you must also be happy to be seated for the majority of the working day.

The successful candidate must have a keen interest in the bridal industry and ideally a textiles qualification from school or college, or a proven ability to be able to hand sew to a good standard.  You must have a good understanding of written and spoken English in order to be able to read the design patterns and follow instructions.  Time management skills are essential as we work to tight deadlines daily.
